County welcomes new Extension agents
Ron and Debbie Baker are the newest additions to the Clay County Extension Service. Ron is a Clay County agent for agriculture and his wife, Debbie, is the Family and Consumer Science agent.
The Bakers have spent the past 20 years in Sumatra, in Asia, where they ran a farmers' training center as a part of the International Mission Board with the Southern Baptist Church.
Ron has a bachelor of science in agriculture (BSA) degree in animal science from Arkansas State University, and a master of science (MS) in general agriculture from the University of Arkansas. Debbie has a bachelor of science in education (BSE) from Ouachita University.
The couple moved to Piggott in June and they have four children, three boys and a girl. Two are in college and two will attend the eleventh grade at Piggott High School.
"It is good to see farmers here work hard to be good farmers," Ron said, "We want to work hard to be good county agents for them."
Debbie says she is excited to get to know the people she will be working with and welcomes anyone needing her assistance to call or visit the office.
