He was born April 1, 1949, in McDougal, the son of Loyd and Ruby Scheffler Hampton.
He was united in marriage to Cathy Goodman. They had two sons.
He was preceded in death by his father, Loyd Hampton; and three brothers, Junior Hampton, Dallas Hampton and Terry Hampton.
He is survived by his mother, Ruby Hampton of Piggott; wife, Cathy Hampton of South Carolina; two sons, Kenny Ray Hampton and wife, Regina, of South Carolina and Tallas Lynn Hampton of Poplar Bluff; one grandchild, Jesse of South Carolina; two brothers, Cletis Hampton of Beaumont, Texas, and Gary Hampton of Collinsville, Ill.; five sisters, Reba Martin of Piggott, Linda Hampton of Piggott, Brenda Parrish of Paragould, Joyce Montgomery of Piggott and Penny Crowson of Pollard; a special sister, Virginia Hampton of Piggott; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 31, 2005, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Charles Smith and Elvis Brandon officiating. Burial followed in the New Hope Cemetery in Pollard. Active pallbearers were Bradley Green, Kendall Green, Billy Martin, Rodney Young, Brad Montgomery and Terry Young. Honorary pallbearer was Jack Cooper.
Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of the arrangements.
