Lady Mohawks outscore Indians at Marked Tree

Wednesday, April 20, 2005

Despite the rain, the Lady Mohawks were able to squeeze in one game on Tuesday, April 12, when the team traveled to Marked Tree to take on the Lady Indians.

The Lady Mohawks outscored the Lady Indians with a final of 7-1.

"Chelsey Grimes played awesome today," coach Tiffeny Sands said of her pitcher. "We didn't really hit well in the beginning; we have gotten used to a faster pitcher, so we struggled a bit," Sands continued. "We turned things on in the last two or three innings of the game and played well," Sands added.

The Lady Mohawks faced the Lady Indians for seven full innings. Kasey Hicks turned in a double for the Lady Mohawks. The Lady Mohawks' schedule has been altered some due to the spring weather and the team will be trying to make up some of the rain outs, starting on Tuesday, April 19, when the team will be traveling to Rector to take on the Lady Cougars. The Lady Mohawks are also slated to face BIC on Thursday, April 21.

The softball district tournament is scheduled to begin play on Monday, April 25, with the regionals taking place later in the week, both being played at Rector. With the weather wreaking havoc on most of the ball club's schedules, there will be a meeting with all the conference coaches on Wednesday, April 20, to discuss the tournament.
