Practice makes perfect for Senior Mohawk track team

The Senior Mohawk track team participated in a practice meet at Pocahontas on Thursday, April 21. "This was a good meet to help us prepare for the district meet, which is scheduled for May 4," coach Ken Schumate said.

"Not all the athletes participated in the meet due to the many activities that are happening at this time of year," Schumate continued.

In the girls division, Katie Smart had a time of 20.90 in the 100-meter hurdles. Erin Nagy timed in at 17.17 in the 3200-meter run.

In the boys division, T.J. Harris had 12.41 and Chase Akins had 16.41 in the 100-meter dash. In the 1600-meter run, Chad Emerson placed sixth with 5:27, while Aaron Householder took eighth place with 5:35 and Anthony Pickering took 10th with 5:40.

In the 300-meter intermediate hurdles, Harris placed fourth with 48.7 and Michael Ely took sixth with 50.03. In the 800-meter run, Chad Emerson finished second with 2:18, while Shane Eslahi had sixth place with 2:22, Householder had eighth place with 2:28, and Trey Sutfin finished tenth with 2:35.

The 1600-meter relay team of Harris, Emerson, Eslahi, and Householder placed second with a time of 4:09.

The Junior High District Meet is scheduled for May 2.
