Janice J. Byrd (nee White), 64, of Waterloo, Ill., formerly of Clay County, died Saturday, April 23, 2005, in Waterloo.

She was born March 27, 1941, in Tuckermann, Ark., the daughter of the late Bernard and Tressie White (nee Tharp).

She grew up in Clay County and attended the Piggott and Pollard schools until 1957, which was when she married and moved to Illinois.

Mrs. Byrd was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Waterloo.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters.

She is survived by her husband, Marion L. Byrd; four children, Timothy Byrd of Waterloo, Argie (Terry) Moll of Waterloo, Sabrina Larson of Collinsville and Karl Byrd of Waterloo; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Lenard (Rita) White and Jerry (Faye) White, all of Granite City, Ill., and Gary White of Clarkton, Mo.; one brother-in-law, William McFarlin of Michigan; and other relatives.

Memorial services were held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 28, 2005, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Waterloo. At her request her remains were donated to St. Louis University School of Medicine.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Hospice of Southern Illinois or Immanuel Lutheran Church in Waterloo.
