He was born June 3, 1915, in Guy, Ark., the son of the late James O. and Norma L. Rowlett Poole.
He was united in marriage to Edith L. "Dolly" Fisher on Dec. 23, 1965.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, one sister, and two grandsons.
He is survived by his wife, Edith L. Poole; two sons, Dean Poole of Pocahontas and Max Poole and wife, Billie Sue, of Piggott; two daughters, Jane Hinkle and husband, Lane, of Piggott and Julia Crews of Florida; two brothers, Bonner Poole of Malakoff, Texas, and Ray Poole of Troy, Mo.; two sisters, Bronnie Parton of Malakoff, Texas, and Vernice Wyatt of Lakeland, Fla.; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 13, 2005, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Rev. Kevin Murray officiating. Burial followed in the Piggott Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Ed Morris, Rick Haywood, Charley Cook, Vance Whaley, Neil Cluck and Delbert Hughes. Honorary pallbearers included Taylor Crawley, Wade Poole, Dale Poole, Barry Whaley, Wil Whaley, Brady Whaley, Colton Poole, Alex Wicker, John Scheffler, Jerry McKinnie and Nicholas McKinnie.
Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of the arrangements.
