Tennie Johnson, 96, of Jonesboro died on Thursday, April 6, 2006, at St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro.

She was born Jan. 13, 1910, in Piggott, the daughter of the late Victor and Nora Toombs Wright.

She was united in marriage to Fonzie Johnson. He preceded her in death on Dec. 16, 1974.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Myrl Hood and Mamie Nichols.

Survivors include a nephew, David Hood of Miami, Fla.; two great-nephews, Dr. Jim Golden of Maumelle and Dr. Stephen Golden of Jonesboro; and one great-niece, Dr. Nickie Golden of Honolulu, Hawaii.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 10, 2006, in the McDaniel Chapel in Kennett with Kathy Holler officiating. Burial followed in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Kennett. Active pallbearers were Mike Ebbert, Steve Baker, Malcolm Culpepper, Dr. Stephen Lunde, Dr. Dan Johnson and Dr. Jim Golden. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Stephen Woodruff, Dr. Ryszarda Hejmej, Louisa Cox, Earnestine Andrews and Mike Morgan.

McDaniel Funeral Service of Kennett was in charge of the arrangements.
