Ewell Edgar Baker

He was born on Oct. 16, 1922, in Lawrence County, the son of the late Oscar and Alberta Herring Baker.

He was united in marriage to Lois Rowland on June 17, 1940. They had four sons.

He was a longtime member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Piggott.

He is survived by his wife, Lois; four sons, Fred Baker and wife, Mary, of Poplar Bluff, Bob Baker and wife, Kay, of Waldorf, Md., Ronnie Baker and wife, Shirley, of Piggott and Randy Baker and wife, Debbie, of Cabot; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 7, 2006, at the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Kevin Murray and Loy Culver officiating. Burial followed in the Piggott Cemetery in Piggott. Active pallbearers were Don Featherston, John Brawner, Aldion Turner, Lambert Williams, Spencer Permenter and Randy Potts. Honorary pallbearers were his friends that he camped with throughout the years.

Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of the arrangements.
