J. Samuel "Sam" Lehman
J. Samuel "Sam" Lehman 90, of North Little Rock died Tuesday, March 27, 2007.
He was born in Piggott on Feb. 11, 1917, to the late Vernon and Nora Lehman.
Mr. Lehman was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in North Little Rock. He served as business manager for the church for ten years, was chairman of finance for several years and taught the friendship Sunday school class for thirty years.
During World War II, he served as a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne Division. He made many jumps including the jump on Normandy. After his discharge, he worked as a public accountant until he retired in 1984. Mr. Lehman loved to work in his yard. Kids in the neighborhood would say "that old man is picking grass again." He grew beautiful roses and an abundance of flowers.
In addition to his parents, Samuel was preceded in death by one brother, Clifford Lehman; and one sister, Mary Whitaker.
He is survived by his wife of thirty-five years, Opal H. Lehman; one sister, Wilma Jinks of Piggott; and host of nieces and nephews.
The family received friends on Wednesday, March 28, at Roller-Owens Funeral Home. Funeral service was held Thursday, March 29, at Trinity United Methodist Church in North Little Rock. Interment was at Rest Hills Memorial Park.
