Tribe edged by Bearcats on the road

Thursday, April 5, 2007

The Piggott Mohawk baseball squad came off the long spring break with a road trip to Brookland Monday afternoon, dropping a 14-4 decision to the Bearcats.

In action for the first time since March 23, the Tribe got two hits and two RBIs from Brice Swann, but otherwise were stymied by Brookland's A.J. Chesser and Levi Thornton. Chesser picked up the win, striking out two Mohawks in the process. Thornton came on and pitched the final two-and-two-thirds of an inning in relief.

The Mohawks are scheduled to visit Hoxie Thursday afternoon for a conference tilt with the Mustangs. Other conference games down the stretch include; a double-header at home against EPC next Tuesday, April 10, and a visit to Marmaduke on April 16. The Tribe's District Tournament is set for April 20-24 at Hoxie.
