Jewell Isabelle White

She was born to Freeman and Ethel Adams Byrd on Oct. 11, 1915, in White Oak, Mo.

On Sept. 23, 1939, she was united in marriage to Fain White. The couple had three children.

She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Pollard.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fain; her son, Michael; and her daughter, Sandy Dismukes.

Survivors include a daughter, Gayle O'Dell and husband Gary of Pollard; three grandchildren, Jim O'Dell and wife Robin of Pollard, Mona Weaver and husband Marty of Corning, and Beth Cheshire and husband Danny of Pollard; six great-grandchildren; Logan, Daniel and Matthew Cheshire, Heather and Holly O'Dell, and Steven Weaver; two brothers, J.A. Byrd of California and Winfred Byrd of Poplar Bluff; two sisters, Merle White of Highland, Ill., and Shirley Layton of Quinlan, Texas, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2007, in the Hoggard & Sons Chapel with Loy Culver officiating. Burial was in New Hope Cemetery at Pollard. Pallbearers were Danny Cheshire, Logan Cheshire, Daniel Cheshire, Jim O'Dell, Gary O'Dell, Raymond Dismuke, and Russell Huffstutler.

Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of the arrangements.
