Ted M. Templeton

Wednesday, December 5, 2007
Ted M. Templeton died Nov. 5, 2007. He was born in Piggott on May 5, 1923, the son of Boss and Eva (Conley) Templeton, and the grandson of W.D. "Buck" Templeton, the one-time owner and builder of what is now known as the Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum and Conference Center.

Mr. Templeton's career encompassed nearly 38 years at Chrysler Corporation in Michigan, from which he retired in 1978 as a mid-level manager. After retiring, he was offered employment in Russia and Brazil as a consultant, but chose instead to enjoy the fruits of his labor in early retirement in Florida.

He was an avid historian and particularly enjoyed researching his heritage and the history of Clay County and Piggott. He donated more than two-dozen plaques to the Piggott Library about the culture of the area's early settlers and history as far back as 1812.

Mr. Templeton was preceded in death by his father and mother; two brothers, Gene Willard and Warren; a daughter, Carol Lee; and his beloved wife of 56 years, Catherine C. Templeton. He is survived by his daughter, Sharon Keene of Eagle, Idaho, and grandchildren Nathan and Rachel.

Burial was conducted at Grace Memorial Gardens in Hudson, Fla.
