Joy Sherfield

She was born Sept. 9, 1911, in Corinth, Miss., and was the daughter of the late Robert Osborn and Lula Mae Barnett Wicker.

She was united in marriage to Willis Parker on July 11, 1930. He preceded her in death. On March 25, 1946, she was united in marriage to Benny Luther Sherfield. He preceded her in death in 1970.

She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Sue Sharp; a granddaughter, Christine Sherman; a brother, J.O. Wicker, and a sister, Jewell Hazel Swafford.

She is survived by two daughters, Katherine Dees and husband Leland of Piggott, and Sue Murphy and husband Paul of Dyersburg, Tenn.; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.

Graveside services were held Saturday, Dec. 8, 2007, at the Mitchell Cemetery in Greenway. Pallbearers were Paul Murphy, Jimmy Murphy and Keith Duncan. Honorary pallbearers were Terry Dees, Leland Dees, Jason Duncan and Vance Turner. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
