Margie Mae Jones
Margie Mae Jones, 86, the daughter of the late Riley and Lottie (Parton) Book of Durand, Mich., formerly of Piggott, died Tuesday, January 1, 2008 at the McLauren Regional Medical Center in Flint, Mich.
She was born March 20, 1921 in Greenway. She was married to the Rev. Forrest C. Jones in Kennett on June 10, 1939. The couple had seven children. He preceded her in death on Dec. 5, 2006.
Margie gave herself unconditionally to others. She had an open door for all family members to stay until they were able to settle-in while relocating to Michigan. She was a loving, loyal care giver to her mother while raising her seven children. More than anything she lived her life for her children and grandchildren, putting the needs of others before her own, until the end.
She is survived by one daughter, Christine Pollok and husband Ronald of Durand, Mich; four sons, Dewane Jones and wife Josephina of Arkansas, Forrest "Dick" Jones of Grand Blanc, Mich, James Jones and wife Cindy of Davison, Mich., and Aaron Jones and wife Deborah of Mt. Morris, Mich; twenty grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, three brothers, Jay Book, Henry Book and wife Mary and Ray Book and wife Loretta all of Arkansas; along with two sisters, Fae Pridemore of Texas and Louise Harmon of Missouri.
In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by two daughters, Anita Cousins and Betty Ziemke; one grandson, James Jones; one brother, John Book; and three sisters, Edith Simpson, Ethel Hampton and Virgilee Binkley.
A funeral service was conducted Thursday, Jan. 3 at the Sharp Funeral Home in Swartz Creek, Mich. with Reverand Theron Russell officiating. Services were also held Saturday, Jan. 5 at the Irby Funeral Home chapel in Piggott with Reverend Joe Payne officiating, burial followed at the Piggott Cemetery.
Pallbearers were grandsons, Brian Jones, Steven Jones, Korey Jackson, Heath Jones, Justin Jones, and Joshua Jones. Honorary pallbearers were her children, Dewane Jones, Forrest D. Jones, James Jones, Christine Pollok and Aaron Jones.
