She was born Aug. 19, 1918, in Pollard, the daughter of the late Benjamin and Lillie (Simpson) Mead. She spent her working years at the Chrysler Motor Company in Detroit.
She was married to Gordon Day on May 1, 1943.
Survivors include four nieces, Barbara Hughes of Piggott, Linda Shoemaker of Inkster, Mich., Pat Garris of Dearborn, Mich., and Wilma Hathaway of Poplar Bluff; a nephew, Freddie Dulock of Sterling Heights, Mich., and a host of other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Day, on July 7, 1988; a brother, Daniel Mead, and four sisters, Freda Fletcher, Flossie Dulock, Julia Latta Cogley and Juanita Mooneyham.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 8, in the Irby Funeral Home Chapel in Piggott with Bro. Johnny Niswonger officiating. Burial was in the Piggott Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Bruce Ward, Roger Simpson, Teddy White, Jason Bell, Tommy Risinger, Justin Tompkins, Jack Byrd and Stacey Harmon.
