Donald Avery Boak, 83, of Pollard died Saturday, March 15, 2008, at his home.

He was born Sept. 28, 1924, in Springfield, Mo., and was the son of the late Ray and Mabel Gurney Boak.

He was united in marriage to Olie Louise Crews on June 16, 1990.

Boak served for three years in the Army and Air Force in the South Pacific and received the Purple Heart from the Army. He was a carpenter in the District Council of Kansas City Local #61 and took care of many foster children.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Howard E. Boak.

He is survived by his wife, Olie Louise Boak of Pollard; three sons, Andy Boak of Houston, Texas, Gary Boak of Katy, Texas, and Curtis Boak of Rogers; three daughters, Kim Brass of Raymore, Mo., Nancy E. Schemaker of Salisbury, Mo., and Terry Boak of Kansas City, Kan.; two step-daughters, Pat A. Holifield of Pollard and Kenilee M. Hohimer of Piggott,; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three sisters, Nadine Jordan of Kansas City, Mo., Raevitta Gordon of Harrisonville, Mo., and Ruth Pickle of Independence, Mo.; along with other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Monday, March 17, in the Hoggard & Sons Chapel with Gary Hancock officiating. Burial was in the Cummins Chapel Cemetery near Pollard. Pallbearers were Patrick Day, Tommy Donohue, Neal Bricker and Lee Holifield. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of the arrangements.
