Richard Meadows Mitchell
Richard Meadows Mitchell, Sr., 83, of Paragould died Sunday Aug. 25, 2002.
He was born Sept. 6, 1918, in Paragould to the late Randal and Lucy Wyatt Mitchell.
He was owner of Mitchell Funeral Home, a member of Second and Walnut Church of Christ, former member of the Paragould Jaycees, served on the Arkansas Board of Embalmers and Funeral Directors from 1968-1973, past President of Arkansas Board of Embalmers and Funeral Directors; Arkansas Funeral Director of the year, 1975-76, Past President of Arkansas Funeral Directors Association and Board member of Memorial Insurance Company of America.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Delois Mitchell; his parents; one brother; Ralph Mitchell; and by an infant sister; Betty Jo Mitchell.
He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Dick and Pat Mitchell and Bob and Debbie Mitchell, all of Paragould; two daughters and one son-in-law; Caroline Mims and and Suzanne and Dean Carlton, all of Paragould; one sister; Lauranda Hollis of Paragould; five grandchildren, Robert Mims of Oxford, Miss., Jeff Mitchell of Fayetteville, Shane Tripon of Hendersonville, Tenn., and Julie Holmes and Jacob Tripod of Paragould; and eight great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday (today) at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel in Paragould with James Brown and Larry McFadden officiating.
Burial was in Linwood Cemetery with Mitchell Funeral Home of Paragould in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were Robert Mims, Jeff Mitchell, Shane Tripod, Jacob Tripod, Mardy Holmes, Randy Mitchell, Jay Morgan and Mark Quail. Honorary pallbearers were attending funeral directors and Memorial Insurance Company directors.
