She was born July 1, 1927, in Boydsville, the daughter of the late Henry and Hallie Garrett. She was a homemaker and had been a substitute teacher at Rector and McDougal.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Maxine Mobley.
She is survived by her husband, Earl P. Clayton, of the home; two sons, Phillip Henry Clayton of Houston and Mark Edward Clayton of Collierville, Tenn.; one daughter, Carolyn McKeel of Brookland; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, March 16, at Fifth and Pine Church of Christ in Rector with Ken Roden and Art Smith officiating.
Burial was in Woodland Heights Cemetery with Mitchell Funeral Home of Rector in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were Jason Cribbs, Matthew Clayton, Jared Clayton, Garrett Clayton, Matthew Hill, Paul Caver and John McKeel.
