Carl William Eaton

Carl William Eaton, 81, of El Paso, Texas, formerly of Rector, died Tuesday, April 8, 2003.

Mr. Eaton was a 37-year resident of El Paso following his retirement from the military.

He served his country honorably as a 22-year veteran in the U.S. Army, serving in both World War II and the Korean War as well as tours in Germany and France. During his career, he was honored as Soldier of the Year and Father of the Year.

Prior to his retirement, Mr. Eaton was active in Youth Athletics and coached the European Little League Championship Team in 1962 to the Little League World Series.

Following his military retirement, Mr. Eaton was employed for 10 years as a city worker for the El Paso Transportation Service.

He will be dearly missed by his many friends and his family.

He is survived by his wife, Freeda, of El Paso; sons, David and Larry and wife, Nina, of El Paso, Richard and wife, Darlene, of Huntsville, Ala., Tony and wife, Emy, of Stafford, Va., and Robert of Las Cruces, N.M.; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Manuel Eaton of Rector; sisters, Geraldine Crockett of Rector, Earline Galbraith, Christine Adams and Faye LeGrand; and sister and brother in Law, Ford and Charlene Kennedy of Rector.

Funeral services were held April 11 at Desert View United Church of Christ with Rev. Carol Creitz officiating.

Burial was at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with full military honors.
