Ruth Jane "Janie" Jones Worley

Ruth Jane "Janie" Jones Worley, 52, formerly of Rector and mayor of the City of Carnesville, Ga., died early Friday morning, May 16, 2003, at the Grandview Nursing Center in Athens, Ga, after an extended illness.

Born Nov. 9, 1950, in Kennett, she was the daughter of Maxine Beaver Jones and the late James Maurice Jones.

She was a 1968 graduate of Rector High School. She owned and operated Yates House of Jewelry in Paragould. She was active in the floral industry as a wedding director, was sales director with the Redbook Floral Corporation and was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.

A resident of Carnesville since 1981, she was elected to the Carnesville City Council in 1989 and took office as mayor on Jan. 1, 1996.

She was the site manager of the Crestview Manor in Royston, Ga., and was National Manager of the Year in 2001 with the Boyd Management Company. She was a member of the Franklin County Church of Christ.

She is survived by one son, John Lee Ginn of Carnesville; her mother, Maxine Beaver Jones of Royston, Ga.; one brother, Danny Jones of Conway; one nephew, Heath Jones of Glencoe, Ark.; one niece, Lisa Brady of Vilonia, Ark.; and one great-nephew, Will Brady, of Vilonia.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 18, at B.D. Ginn Memorial Chapel with Roy Neal and Rev. Bert Synan officiating.

Members of the Carnesville Volunteer Fire Department served as pallbearers, and members of the Carnesville City Council and employees were honorary pallbearers.

Burial was in Cross Roads Baptist Church Cemetery with Ginn funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
