Mattie Lee Thrasher

Mattie Lee Thrasher, 89, of Rector died Thursday, May 22, 2003, at Franklin Health Care in Rocky Mount, Va.

She was born April 3, 1914, in Van Buren County, Ark., the daughter of the late Joe and Rosa Cates Dillard.

She was united in marriage to Thomas Thrasher on Feb. 5, 1932. To this union four sons were born.

She was a member of the South Thornton Street Church of Christ in Piggott.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom, one son, four sisters and two brothers.

She is survived by three sons, Paul Thrasher of Belleville, Ill., Frank Thrasher and wife, Fay, of Rector and Emil J. Thrasher and wife, Charlene, of Wirtz, Va.; five grandchildren, Virginia Bagwell, Marilyn Breeden, Mark Thrasher, Leigh Anne Kippeny and David Thrasher; eight great-grandchildren, Amanda, Amber, Kim, Lisa, Ashley, Corine, Tyler and Madison; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Richard Akins officiating. Burial followed in the Piggott Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Alan Branson, Dale Smith, Don Caldwell, Mike Hill, David Thrasher and Mark Thrasher.

Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of the arrangements.
