Eugene Edmond Gilkison

Eugene Edmond Gilkison, 79, of Piggott died Tuesday, June 24, 2003, in the Piggott Nursing Center in Piggott.

He was born July 31, 1923, in Rector, the son of the late Joe Sherman and Julia Ann Lane Gilkison.

He was united in marriage to Velma Gail Jones on Sept. 1, 1974.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Randal Gilkison; and one sister, Gladys Turnbo.

He is survived by his wife, Velma Gail Gilkison of Piggott; nine children, Barbara Pereya of Houston, Tx., Debbie Boles of Everett, Wash., Diane Huckaby of Livingston, Tx., Chris Gilkison of Paragould, Patricia Crawford of Piggott, Joseph Gilkison of Livingston, Tx., Steven Gilkison of Livingston, Tx., Jeremy Gilkison of Paragould and Ashley Williams of Piggott; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Blanche Gilkison of Jonesboro, Esther Kitterman of Jonesboro and Jean Pratt of Rector; two brothers, Joe Gilkison of Clovis, Ca., and Jerry Gilkison of Rector; and other relatives and friends.

Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2003, in the Mitchell Cemetery with Kevin Murray officiating. Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of the arrangements.
