Malinda Lucille (Lucy) Brewer

Malinda Lucille (Lucy) Brewer, 88, of Fenton, Mich. , formerly of Marmaduke, died July 15, 2003, at Hurley Medical Center.

She was born Nov. 15, 1914, in Marmaduke, the daughter of the late George Herbert and Mary Anna Webb French.

She had been a resident of Fenton since 1953. Mrs. Brewer was employed by D & C Store for 20 years, where she made many friends selling penny candy.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Cleveland; son, Doyne Carroll; and one sister, Kathleen Cupples.

She is survived by one daughter, Sue Bates of LaMesa Calif; one son, Glynn Lee (Pete) of Fenton; one sister, Edith Chapman of Memphis; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and special friends, Eva Haga and Cindy Daniels.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 17, at Swartz Funeral Home in Michigan with Pastor Dale Kessler officiating. Swartz Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Burial was in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Rector with Irby Funeral Home in charge.

The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
