Rector junior girls notch win over Piggott

The Piggott senior high Lady Mohawks won their opening game of the year Monday night at home with a 20-point 72-52 victory over the visiting Rector Lady Cougars.

Piggott led by nine, 16-7, at the end of the first quarter and increased their lead to 16, 40-24, at the halftime intermission.

Lauren Hickson, in her first start for the senior squad, paced the Lady Mohawks with 21 points. Kristin Wallace followed with 16. Also in double figures for Piggott were Brianna Lucie with 12 and Kelsey Stephens with 11. Heather Bricker and Jennifer Wallace each added six points apiece to the tally.

Jessica Hill led Rector with 12 points followed by Haley Harmon with 11. Also scoring for the Lady Cougars were Lindsay Fowler with seven, Fallon Robins and Jamie Beck with six each, Natalie Sigsby with five, Carla Robinson, and Breanna Buck with two points each and Carla Shepherd added one.

Rector's junior high team won the first game of the night defeating Piggott, 52-27.

Lauren Faulkner led Rector in scoring with 12 followed by Skye Shepard with 11, and Abbe' McCarroll with 10. Hannah Parsley added six with Jordan Cornelison tossing in three. Tallah Shelton, Katie Hardin, contributed two points each.

For Piggott, Dana Emerson led on the night with eight, followed by Erica Redmon with seven. Kourtney Toombs and Millicent Webb tossed in three with Natalie Branscum, Krist
