Bill Hopper

Bill Hopper, 70, of Hardy, a native of Rector, died Friday, Jan. 30, 2004, at his home.

An Air Force veteran, he was born Jan. 22, 1934, in Rector to Eula Lee (Beal) Hopper and the late Carson Bishop Hopper. He was married March 30, 1958, to the former Sally Long of Rector. They formerly owned and operated the Sears Store in Rector.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Hardy.

Survivors include his wife, Sally Hopper, of the home; one son, Jeff Hopper of Denver, Colo., and his mother, Eula Hopper of Hardy.

He also was preceded in death by one sister, Avis Sonney.

Funeral services were at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 1, at the First United Methodist Church in Rector with Rev. Tom Rhoades and Rev. Jimmy Anderson officiating. Burial was in Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector with Irby Funeral Home of Rector in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Jesse Bucy, Bill Russell, Charles Long, Ronnie Cooper, Doyne Webb and Tim Morris.
