He was born Nov. 18, 1926, in Nimmons, to the late James Henry and Laura Elizabeth Howell Broadway and was married Dec. 13, 1947, to Lawanda Virginia Turner, who preceded him in death in 2002.
He also was preceded in death by one daughter, Vickie Benita Martin, and one sister, Helen Cooper.
Survivors include two daughters, Jana Melita Maynard of Piggott and Medina Soubretta Bell and husband, Tom, of Dexter; one son, Timmie Earl Broadway and wife, Cindy, of Rector; 10 grandchildren, Christopher Sean Martin, Carrisa Rene Mattison, Daniel Ray Braden, Jaime Nicole Brockway, Elizabeth Tyler Jefferson, Amy Kristine Dodson, Amber Kristin Broadway, Michael Alexander Bell, John Wesley Ridings and Jennifer Leann Ridings; nine great-grandchildren, Gaige Patric Martin, Jason Lee Mattison, Little Richard Allen Brockway III, Logan Brockway, Evelyn Brockway, Damien Brockway, Tyler Jack Dodson and Colton Lester Higgins; two brothers, Bobby Joe Broadway of Marietta, Ga., and Royal "Toots" Broadway of Piggott; six sisters, Joyce Murphy of Puxico, Donna Clifton of Wappapello, Joan Russell of Pontiac, Mich., Marilyn Stokes, Audrey Stidham and Betty Ann Broadway, all of Piggott; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Gary Hancock, Mark Book, Larry Ward and Shelly Elkins officiating. Burial followed at Piggott Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Gaylon Dunlap, Sean Martin, Jason Mattison, George Gower, Steve Edwards and Deloyd Edwards.
Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of the arrangements.
