Willa Jones

Willa Jones, 79, of Kennett, Mo., died Monday, June 28, 2004, at Twin Rivers Medical Center in Kennett.

She was born Jan. 11, 1925, in Rector, to the late Ernest and Sadie Long Gatewood and was married June 7, 1947, to William S. Jones Jr., who preceded her in death Nov. 19, 1984.

She also was preceded in death by one grandson, William Richard Jones.

Survivors include two sons, William Sydney Jones III and his wife, Michelle Terry Jones, of Kennett, and William Rogers Jones and his wife, Carol Jean Jones, of South Riding, Va.; two grandsons, Jeffrey Todd Jones and his wife, Kathryn Coughlin Jones, of Leesburg, Va., and William Sydney Jones IV of Northridge, Calif.; two great-grandchildren, Carson Alexander Jones and Caroline Elizabeth Jones, of Leesburg, Va., and a life-long friend, Wanda McAnally of Kennett.

Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 1, at the First United Methodist Church in Kennett with Rev. Richard Combs, Rev. Paul Lanning and James Powell officiating. Burial was in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Kennett with McDaniel Funeral Home of Kennett in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Tommy Allgood, Charles Brown, Charlie Brown, Johnny Dalton, Lanny Geary and Stephen Sokoloff.

Honorary pallbearers were Wanda McAnally, Sandra Brown, John Hall Dalton, Carolyn Hilburn, Buzz Howard, Olene Lemonds, Jane Rogers, Bobby Ross, Janet Scherer, Harold Treasure, Kent Freeman and Pat Stapleton.
