Cougar golfers to open season at Piggott

The Rector Cougar golf team is in preparation for the opening match of the season on Thursday, Sept. 16, in Piggott. The Cougars will be competing against teams from Piggott, Bay, Riverside, BIC, Walnut Ridge and CRA.

The boys team consists of Jay Beacham, senior; Nathan Wyatt, senior; Dwayne White, senior; Cody Perriman, junior, and Chase Sain, sophomore.

The girls team includes Tylee Tracer, senior; Lindsay Fowler, junior, and Jordan Corneilson, sophomore.

Coach Mark Manchester belives that golf is a good sport for the youth of today. "It introduces them to a sport that's good life training," Manchester said. "It teaches patience and a way to think around problems."

The Cougars will have other matches on these dates -- Sept. 20 at Manila; Sept. 21 at Walnut Ridge; Sept. 27 at Manila, and the district tournament will be held Sept. 29 at Paragould.
