Lucy Gertrude Essman

Lucy Gertrude Essman, 90, of Rector died Thursday, Dec. 23, 2004, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould. She had been a resident of Rector Healthcare the last four years.

She was born Jan. 9, 1914, in Marmaduke to the late Henry Henderson Huckabay and Mary Emma Boone Huckabay and was married March 24, 1934, to Jasper William Essman, who preceded her in death June 6, 1995, after 61 years of marriage.

She was a housewife and a longtime member of Mary's Chapel General Baptist Church.

She also was preceded in death by seven brothers; four sisters; one granddaughter, Josie Essman, and a son-in-law, Doyne Reynolds.

She is survived by two daughters, Patsy Essman Reynolds of Sikeston, Mo., and Carolyn Essman of Steele, Mo.; one son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Betty Essman of Rector; six grandchildren, Cindy Melton, Barbara Lindsey and Billy Reynolds of Sikeston, Dorothy Ashmore of Blytheville, Cynthia Greco of Moultrie, Ga., and Danny Essman of Rector; 11 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Eunice Huckabay of Rector; a brother-in-law, Bennie England of Rector, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation began at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 27, preceding funeral services at 2 p.m. that day at Mitchell Funeral Home in Rector. Bro. Mark Book officiated. Burial was in Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector.

Pallbearers were Danny Essman, Rick Melton, Corky Lindsey, Eddie Ashmore, Clint Reynolds and Donald Huckabay.
