She was born Jan. 16, 1932, to the late Norman and Calvia Whitaker of Rector and was the youngest of six children.
Mrs. Jenkins worked in various office positions for 30 years before retiring in 2002. Reading was her passion, and she loved people, especially all her family, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by Dwight Jenkins, her husband of 50 years, and a brother, Irvin Whitaker.
Survivors include her two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Sue Jenkins of Brighton, Mich., and Dennis and Alice Jenkins of Glennie, Mich., and three sisters, Mary Vangilder, Iva Vangilder and Faye Whitaker, one brother, Bernie Whitaker, and a
sister-in-law, Willodean Whitaker, all of Rector.
She also has numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly, and was the dearest and best friend of Wordia Vangilder and Belva Hutchinson.
Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 14, at the John
Molnar Funeral Home in Southgate, Mich. She was buried beside her husband at Michigan Memorial Park, Huron Township, Mich.
