Gary Leland Melrose

Gary Leland Melrose, 69, of Rector died Monday, Sept. 12, 2005, at Springhill Baptist Hospital in North Little Rock.

Born July 9, 1936, in Clay County, he was the son of the late Herbert and Clara Garrett Melrose. He worked in maintenance for Noranda, Inc., and was of the Catholic faith. He was an Air Force veteran and a member of the Eagles, American Legion and United Steel.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca (Stahl) Melrose on May 29, 2001; five brothers, Herbert, Phillip, Grantland, Kenneth and Byron Melrose, and four sisters, Mercede Jones, Velma Steward, Amelia Jones and Mary Ruth Melrose.

Survivors include two daughters, Melissa Melrose of Louisville, Ky., and Clarissas Melrose of Jacksonville, and one granddaughter, Kylie Leasure of Jacksonville.

A memorial service and burial will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, at Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector with Rev. Larry Martineau officiating. Irby Funeral Home of Rector is in charge of arrangements.
