Doyle Raymond "Tuffy" Bishop

Former Rector School Board member Doyle Raymond "Tuffy" Bishop, 75, died Monday, Jan. 27, 2006, at his home in Powhatan.

He had been a teacher at Rector High School and later worked as a state sales tax auditor. Born July 11, 1930, in Memphis, Tenn., to the late Earl Ray and Hazel Lee Bishop, he was a veteran of the Korean conflict, a Methodist and a Master Mason with Rector Dannelly Lodge 300.

He also was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Bishop.

Survivors include his wife, Alice Bishop of the home; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Dennis and Candy Bishop of Paragould and Dale Bishop of Rector; two daughters, Denise Bishop King of Oxnard, Calif., and Donna Bishop Pitts of Powhatan; one brother, Jerry Bishop and wife, Pat, of Woodbine, Ga.; one sister, Nadine Reddick and husband, Hulon, of Rector, three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight (Wednesday, Feb. 1) at Mitchell Funeral Home in Rector. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 2, at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel in Rector with Bro. Fred Barker and Jerry Bishop officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector.

Pallbearers will be Kip Bishop, Blake Bishop, Kye Bishop, Jack "Sonny" Bishop, Butch Reddick, Jay Roybal, Les Roybal and Rich Brucker. Honorary pallbearers will be Brandon Bishop, Hulon Reddick, Max Sims, Al Gonzales, Rudy Roybal, Phil Pruett, Claude Torres, Roger Parks and Doyne Parrish.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wesley Memorial Evangelical Methodist Church of Rector.
