She was born Jan. 11, 1916, in Boydsville to the late George Albert and Sara Caroline Toombs.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Louie Toombs, Delbert Toombs and Lonzo Toombs, and two sisters, Anna Toombs and Lena Settlemeyer.
She was of the Baptist faith and attended Holly Island Baptist Church in her later years. She worked at General Motors during World War II building tanks. She was a nurse for many years, working at Arkansas Methodist Hospital in Paragould for 15 years. After operating a café in Rector for a few years, she served as "Nurse Nettie" for the Rector School District for over 20 years.
She is survived by her two children, daughter, June Priest, and son, Bill Romine and wife, Sue, both of Rector; four grandchildren, Diane Knuckles, Vicki Romine, Steven Romine and David Romine; four great-grandchildren, Christie Scott, Nicole McCluskey, Adam and Andrew Romine, and eight great-great-grandchildren, Heather, Jake and Austin Scott, Nikkota Gunn, and Wes, McKensie, Zack and Conner McCluskey.
Graveside services were held Sunday, Feb. 5, at Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector with Bro. Charles Carrens officiating. Irby Funeral Home of Rector was in charge of arrangements.
