Loyd Benson, 78, of Piggott died on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2006, at the Piggott Community Hospital.

He was born on Boydsville, the son of the late Loyd and Opel (Irby) Benson.

He was a fireman, retiring from the Pontiac Fire Department in Michigan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Louis Ann (Victor) Benson; and one brother, Velus Benson.

Survivors include one daughter, Dawn Benson of California; one son, Jeff Benson of Michigan; a cousin, Bill Irby Jr. of Piggott; and many special friends and other relatives.

Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 6, 2006, at the Mitchell Cemetery in Greenway with Bro. Jerry Morgan officiating. Visitation preceded the services.

Irby Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of the arrangements.
