Born May 12, 1921, in Gun Town, Miss., she and her family moved to Cardwell, Mo., when she was one year old and lived there for more than 50 years. She attended Antioch Church of Christ.
She was a wife, mother, homemaker and assisted in running the family farm. She also attended Arkansas State University with an interest in early childhood education. Mrs. Beggs worked actively in providing needy families with clothing and food. She also enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family. She later moved to Rector, where she made many friends. She lived in Rector for more than 20 years and attended the Fifth and Pine Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert Beggs; her parents, J.O. "Jim" Bell and Lona Whitaker Bell, and her brothers, Junior Bell and Billy Bell.
Survivors include one son, J.R. "Dick" Beggs and wife, Jean; two daughters, Sharon Beggs Jackson Holcomb and her husband, Bill; Lisa Beggs Gipson and husband, David, all of Paragould; one sister, Carol Awbrey of San Antonio, Texas; grandchildren, Richey Beggs, Tony Beggs, Ron and Cheryl Beggs Freeman and Jay Gipson, all of Paragould; 10 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 2, at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel in Paragould with Ken Roden officiating. Burial followed in Cardwell Cemetery with Mitchell Funeral Home of Paragould in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were grandsons, great-grandsons and sons-in-law. Honorary pallbearers were Norman Jameson, Arvel Pratt and Chestene Loyd.
Memorials may be made to the Children's Home of Paragould.
