Born Nov. 6, 1989, in Arcadia to Patrick Kye and Deborah Bishop, she was an honors student at DeSoto High School, where she had just finished her sophomore year and was eagerly awaiting her junior year in August.
Rae had been accepted to the summer 2006 session of Crime Scene Investigators at Nova Southeastern University in Miami. She recently graduated from the National League of Junior Cotillion. As an outstanding young leader, Rae had been selected to attend the 2006 Leadership Conference in Washington. Her selection was based on leadership skills as well as academic achievement and extra curricular activities.
Rae loved to dance and was a member of the DeSoto Dance Workshop in past years. Her love of animals led to her active participation in the DeSoto County 4-H Club and the DeSoto County High School FFA. She frequently felt led to bring home stray animals. She was a member of Pine Level United Methodist Church. She enjoyed life with her family and friends. Her favorite things were playing softball, reading, listening to music, taking photographs, driving her truck and hanging out with her friends.
She is survived by her parents, Patrick Kye and Deborah Bishop of Arcadia; one brother, Kyler Chastain Bishop of Arcadia; paternal grandparents, Jerry and Pat Bishop of Kingsland, Ga.; maternal grandparents, T.J. and Mary Chastain of Punta Gorda, Fla.; uncles and aunts, Mike and Gail Dugger, Hans and Donna Hansen, Kip Bishop, Bill and Sheila Cassa and Jay and Janelle Chastain, and great-aunts, Nadine Reddick and Tina Bishop of Rector.
Funeral services were at 4 p.m. Monday, May, 22, at Pine Level United Methodist Church with Rev. Roy Arms officiating. Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
