Robert Melvin "Bobby" Edwards, 66, of Forrest City and Paragould, formerly of Rector, died Tuesday, May 30, 2006, at St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro.

Born Nov. 25, 1939, in Greene County to the late Jesse Edwards and Grace (Ahlf) Edwards, he was a grocer and of the Missionary Baptist faith.

Also preceding him in death were a sister, Earnestine McCartney, and a grandson, Jordan Robert Davison.

Survivors include his wife, Vonda (Freeman) Edwards of Paragould; one son, Mark Edwards of California; two daughters, Beverly and Bill Davison of Paragould and Sondra Schaffer and Fernando Mora of California; two brothers, Leslie Ellis Edwards of Memphis and Oral Winston Edwards of Forrest City; two sisters, Ela Marie Legault of Richardson, Texas, and Cleatis Edwards Bowman of Las Vegas, and four grandsons, Justin, Jacob and Jared Davison and John Ross Schaffer.

Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 3, at Irby Funeral Home Chapel in Rector with Tim Wooldridge and Adrian Parker officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Grove Cemetery west of Rector with Irby Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Greg Jameson, Stanley Melson, Bobby Childers, Gary Proffitt, Paul Rowton and Melvin Bowman.
