Born Nov. 6, 1931, in Rector to the late Edward and Lona Thomas, she moved in 1949 to El Dorado, Kan., where for many years she worked at the New York Restaurant. She married Luther J. Lewis in 1952, and they built and operated the Edge-of-Town Drive-In on the east edge of El Dorado. Both enjoyed gardening and spending time with grandchildren during their retirement years.
She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Ben Thomas and Junior Thomas, and a sister, Alberta Thomas Bell.
Survivors include one son, Richard A. Lewis and wife Gail of Emporia, Kans.; one daughter, Elaine Lewis Carleton and husband Russell of Leon, Kan.; one brother, Luther V. Thomas of Rockford, Ill.; four grandchildren, Preston Carleton of El Dorado, Lori Carleton of Leon, Angel Lewis and Arlene Lewis Williams, both of Emporia, and five great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 21, at Sunset Lawns Cemetery in El Dorado.
