Woodrow Wilson Payton

Woodrow Wilson Payton, 88, of Blytheville, formerly of Marmaduke, died Friday, March 9, 2007, at Baptist East in Memphis.

Born June 21, 1918, in Gravette, Ark., to the late Harvey Leroy Payton and Emma Alice (Vermillion), he worked for Ark-Mo Power. He was a World War II Navy veteran of the Korean conflict and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.

Also preceding him in death was his wife, Isabel, in 1997.

Survivors include two sons, Glenn Payton of Memphis and Dr. Terry Payton of Fayetteville; one brother, Waldo Emerson Payton of Roland, Okla.; one sister, Ada Miller of Bakersfield, Calif.; four grandchildren, Brittany, Shanley, Stewart and Shawn Payton, and great-grandchildren, Daniel, Nikki and Molly Payton.

Graveside services were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, March 11, at Harvey's Chapel Cemetery near Marmaduke with David Floyd officiating. Irby Funeral Home of Rector was in charge of arrangements.
