Loyd Dale Smith, 78, of Rector died Saturday, March 10, 2007, in Okeechobee, Fla.

Born Oct. 28, 1928, in Parma, Mo., to the late William and Nancy Smith, he was a veteran of the Navy, a retired farmer and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Rector.

Survivors include his wife, Sarah, of the home; one son, Ricky Smith of Rector; one daughter, Regina Green of Kennett, Mo.; two sisters, Ruth Evans of Sikeston, Mo., and Louise Wilson of Okeechobee; five grandchildren, Summer Wolfenbarger, Jake Smith, Tammy Rainwater, Tosha Green and Shana Renee Green, and two great-grandchildren, Hanna Rainwater and Madison Wolfenbarger.

Funeral services were at 10 a.m. today (Wednesday, March 14) at the First United Methodist Church in Rector with Rev. Roger Armstrong officiating. Burial was in Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector with Mitchell Funeral Home of Rector in charge of arrangements.
