Maurice Humphrey "Hump" Ray, 80, of the General Baptist Nursing Home in Campbell, formerly of Marmaduke, died Monday, Dec. 30, 2008 at St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro.

Born Dec. 7, 1927, in Marmaduke to the late Shad Ray and Reba (Graves) Ray, he was manager of a service station in California, of the Baptist faith and was in the Marines.

He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Elizabeth.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Jo Ray, of the General Baptist Nursing Home in Campbell; one son James Ray of Madison, Wisc.; one sister Doris Vance of Florida, and two grandsons, Tony and Tracy.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, at Irby Funeral Home Chapel in Marmaduke with David Floyd officiating. Burial was in Hartsoe Cemetery near Marmaduke with Irby Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
