Stanley C. Smith
Stanley C. Smith, 77, of Holts Summit, Mo., a native of Rector, died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2008, at his home.
He was born Sept. 16, 1930, in Rector, a son of Collie B. and Clara E. Williams Smith. He attended Rector Public Schools.
He was married Aug. 20, 1947, in Bakersville, Mo., to Claudia Louise Norman, who survives.
He was a welder and foreman at Delong's, Inc., for 30 years until his retirement in 1985. He was a member of the Fairgrounds Road Church of Christ, where he served as a deacon for over 25 years. He also was a founding member of the Fun Bus Hunting Club.
Other survivors are five children, Linda A. Watson of Holts Summit, Judy Nelson of Wichita, Kan., Richard W. Smith and Randy W. Smith, both of Jefferson City, Mo., and Stanley Bruce Smith of Henley, Mo.; two sisters, Helen Schenk of Jonesboro and Neil Schoessel of Osceola; two brothers, Clyde Smith and Don T. Smith, both of Jefferson City, 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Floyd Smith, Edgar Smith and Bud Smith, and six sisters, Hazel Bopp, Gladys Duisen, Pauline Manie, Jean Shelton, Mildred Brannum and Edna Norman.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, at the Fairgrounds Road Church of Christ with Brent Newton and Carey Terry officiating. Interment followed in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. Arrangements were under the direction of Houser-Millard Funeral Directors.
