Velna Winton Davis

Velna Winton Davis, 96, of Piggott, died Friday, April 4, 2008, in the Piggott Community Hospital.

She was born Nov. 25, 1911, in Piggott, the daughter of the late Elbert Royall and Letha Carpenter Winton

She was a long-time member of the South Thornton Church of Christ in Piggott.

She was united in marriage to Randall Frederick Davis on Oct. 20, 1935. He preceded her in death on April 30, 1981. Her sister, Irma Blankinship, also preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held Sunday, April 6, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Jerry Morgan and Michael Cox officiating. Burial was in Piggott Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Bill Irby, Jr., Larry Holcomb, Brent Coomer, Kent Coomer, Jimmy Graddy, Joe Hawkins, Jim Hawkins, Jean Hawkins and Howard Ray Spicer. Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was charged with the arrangements.
