Robert D. "Bob" Cranford

Robert D. "Bob" Cranford, 83, of Rector died Tuesday, April 15, 2008, at St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro.

He came to Rector from Bald Knob, where he grew up, and worked for a time at Irby Funeral Home. He later went to work at the Bank of Rector, from which he retired a few years ago.

He was married to the former Jewell Dean Marlar of Rector and had two children and four grandchildren, among other family members.

He had served on the Rector Housing Commission since the local Housing Authority was established about 43 years ago, acting the last eight years as chairman. He also served many years as treasurer of the First United Methodist Church and in many other areas of community work.

Visitation will be Friday night at Irby Funeral Home in Rector. Funeral services will be Saturday at the First United Methodist Church.
