Franklyn Shavalia

Franklyn Daniel "Frank" Shavalia, 70, of Rector, died Tuesday, April 22, 2008.

He was born Feb. 11, 1938, to the late Arnold E. and Delores (Huesman) Shavalia. He was a veteran of the Marines and the Arkansas National Guard. He also was a member of the Blooming Grove Missionary Baptist Church.

He had worked for the Highway Department and was a member of the Blue Lodge, Shriners and Order of the Eastern Star.

Also preceding him in death were a brother, Adrian Michael Shavalia, and two sisters, Shirley Taylor and Sharon Marie Shavalia.

Survivors include his wife, Edith Louise (Smith) Shavalia of the home; two sons and their wives, Quentin and Renae Shavalia and Lemuel and Amy Shavalia, all of Rector; one daughter, Dawn Marie Stanley of Rector; one brother and his wife, Kenneth and Kathy Shavalia of Ann Arbor, Mich.; two sisters and their husbands, Cheryl and Lance Brown of Ann Arbor and Candy and Dave Shavalia-Strauss; nine grandchildren, Ricky Jay Stanley, Anthony Stanley, Brandy Owens, Kyle Souder, Erick Shavalia, Kelsey Shavalia, Logan Shavalia, Sam Shavalia and Kenneth Shavalia; four great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Friday, April 25, at Irby Funeral Home Chapel in Rector with Bro. Donnie Morris officiating. Burial was in Woodland Heights Cemetery with military honors.

Irby Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
