Football schedules released

Wednesday, May 14, 2008
The 2008 Piggott Mohawk football schedules have been released, and both will feature some new opponents and a much tougher line-up. The senior boys kick things off with their season opener on Friday, Sept. 5 as they host the Valley View Blazers, while the junior boys will open the following Thursday, Sept. 11 as they visit the Corning Bobcats in a non-conference game.

The junior Mohawks will then visit Cave City and Earle before their home-opener Oct. 2 as they host Harrisburg. The next week they'll host Hoxie then travel to Rivercrest and Manila before ending their season at home on Oct. 30 as they take on Corning for the second time.

The senior Mohawks will visit the Caruthersville Tigers on Sept. 12, travel to Clarendon for a non-conference game on Sept. 19 and host the Cave City Cavemen the following week for their conference opener. The Tribe will then host Earle for homecoming on Oct. 3, and then visit Harrisburg and Hoxie. Late October will bring visits from the Rivercrest Colts and the Manila Lions, and the regular season will end on Thursday, Nov. 6 as the Tribe visits the Corning Bobcats.

The Mohawks, under coaches Dave Hendrix, Michael Harrell and Shawn Hearn, return a number of starters at key positions this year as they look to try to return to the state playoffs. Last year the Mohawks fell in the first round of the playoffs to the Prescott Curleywolves.
