Born Sept. 16, 1911, in Boydsville, she was a homemaker, a dedicated member of the Boydsville Extension Homemakers Club and a member of Salem Missionary Baptist Church since 1923.
The daughter of the late Martha Ann Morrow, Mrs. Taylor also was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Donald (Slim) Taylor; two brothers, Royal McBee and Everett Morrow, and one daughter, Guelda Jacquline (Taylor) Valmassoi.
She is survived by two sons, Donald Duran Taylor of Crossville, Tenn., and Philip Autry Taylor and wife Shirley of Pocahontas; eight grandchilden, Terry Valmassoi of Poplar Bluff, Linda (Valmassoi) Weberlein, Steve Valmassoi, Gregory Taylor, Janet (Taylor) Bianchi, all of Michigan, David Neal Taylor of Memphis, Angela (Taylor) Smith of Lake City and Mark Andrew Taylor of Michigan; 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Mrs. Taylor was a hard-working Christian woman of character and detemination. Whether making quilts for the Boydsville EHC or riveting the wings and fuselage of B-24 bombers in Detroit during World War II, she always took great pride in her craftsmanship.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Monday, July 21, at Irby Funeral Home Chapel in Rector with George Bearden officiating. Burial was in Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector with Irby Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were Richard Simpson, David Taylor, Alan Milburn, Marvin Milburn, Carson Hardin and Garvin Gatewood.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials go to the American Cancer Society.
