Monte Brett Beers
Monte Brett Beers, 45, of Edgemont, S.D., died Friday, Aug. 1, 2008, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minn.
He was born May 23, 1963, in Piggott to Elliott and Mary (Erwin) Beers. He spent the first six years of his life in Rapid City before moving with his mother to Greenway. He attended Greenway schools and graduated from Greenway High School in 1981.
During high school, Brett was active in FFA and played on the baseball and basketball teams. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1983 until 1987. During his active duty years he served at Lakenheath AFB, England, and in Southern California. After the USAF, he attended college in Poplar Bluff, Mo., and National American University in Rapid City.
On March 21, 1998, he married Ronell (Taylor) Neiman in Deadwood, S.D. The couple has resided in Edgemont since the time of their marriage with their three dogs. Brett enjoyed playing softball and basketball and watching University of Arkansas Razorback sporting events on TV, especially basketball. He also enjoyed major league baseball and was a fan of the Atlanta Braves and Colorado Rockies. He enjoyed spending time with his wife and stepson at home in Edgemont.
Survivors include his wife Ronell and stepson, Christopher Neiman of Edgemont; his mother-in-law, Yvonne Taylor of Hot Springs, S.D.; his father, Elliott Beers Jr. of Rapid City; his mother and stepfather, Mary and Roy Rogers of Greenway; brother, Ryan Rogers of Greenway; sister, Lorna and Matt McCluskey of Greenway; nieces and nephews, Hayden, Mason, Shanya and Jenna of Greenway, along with several aunts and uncles.
Burial was at the Pringle Cemetery in Pringle, S.D., on Aug. 6, 2008. Private family services were held.
