Donald Warren "Papaw" Wagster

Donald Warren "Papaw" Wagster, 83, of Rector died Sunday, Aug. 17, 2008, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould.

He was born Sept. 8, 1924, to the late James and Gladys (Mays) Wagster in Leonard. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the South Pacific with the First Marine Division 3rd Armored Amphibious Battalion, First Platoon, B Company.

He was a retired electrician and appliance repairman and a serious fisherman. He was of the Methodist faith.

Mr. Wagster is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ola Jewell (Dollie) Wagster of Rector: a son, Jim Wagster of Rector; a daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and Larry Cleaves of Paragould; four granddaughters, Julie and Rodney McLaughlin of Drummonds, Tenn., Carrie and Nolan Huckabay of Amarillo, Texas, Beth Cleaves of Dallas, Texas, and Emily Faulkner of Louisville, Ky.; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Joy Smith of Faunsdale, Ala., and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends at 10:30 a.m. today (Wednesday, Aug. 20) at Irby Funeral Home in Rector. The funeral will begin at 12 noon at Irby chapel with Rev. James Henry Dortch officiating. Interment will be in Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector.

Pallbearers will be Larry Cleaves, Rodney McLaughlin, Nolan Huckabay, C.W. Faulkner, Garvin Gatewood and Wayne Rowton.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Evergreen Health and Rehabilitation of Rector.
