John Simpson

John Simpson, 88, of Piggott, died Saturday, Aug. 30, 2008, in the General Baptist Nursing Home in Campbell.

He was born Nov. 13, 1919, in Calhoun, Miss., the son of the late Morris and Clara Harrelson Simpson.

He was united in marriage to Bertha Bragg on May 10, 1949. She preceded him in death on March 8, 1981.

His sisters, Lottie Reed and Evelyn Lipford, also preceded him in death.

Survivors include a daughter, Belinda Simpson of North Little Rock; a stepdaughter, Joyce Morgan; a stepson, J.W. Briggins; a granddaughter, Lisa; two brothers, J.B. Simpson of Manila and Morris Simpson, Jr. of Jacksonville; two sisters, Nella Lee of Blytheville and Guelda Deason of Texas, and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 2, in Hoggard and Sons Chapel with burial in Piggott Cemetery. Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of the arrangements.
